Study series for confirmed outh and
adults are held throughout the year on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m.
and on various weekday evenings. Books for each series are provided
by the church. Past
series have included Bible studies with Kerygma's resource books,
Marcus Borg's The God We Never Knew, John Shelby Spong's Why
Christianity Must Change or Die, and Walter Brueggemann's Living
Toward a Vision: Biblical Reflections on Shalom.
The Center Church was established in
the mid 1860's through a $3,000 gift from Mary Warburton. The original
intent was to establish a library for Church School teachers, but
within a short time it was a resource for the professional staff,
and later developed into a lending library for the congregation as
well.
An excellent selection of hardcover,
paperback and talking books are available, as are current bestsellers.
Other resources include large print materials, CDs and DVDs, and
current magazines.
We have an established reputation for
historical research. This is particularly true of information on
Hartford's Ancient Burying Ground. We are happy to assist in research.
Please call the church office to make an appointment.
The library is located in the Church
House (60 Gold Street). It is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am
to 2:00pm, and one hour before Worship on Sundays. In addition, special
appointments can be arranged.
We can be reached at (860) 249-5631
(ext. 13) or fax (860) 246-3915. We would be happy to hear from you!
