Developing and fostering relationships with each other
is an important part of our life at Center Church. Being together for worship,
fellowship, meetings, and community events are the primary ways that we get
to know each other. For some in our community, at times it is not possible
to join in these activities; but, we want to continue to be in relationship
with them, and they with us.
Our visitation program, designed by the Board of
Deacons in consultation with the Minister, seeks to find ways to
keep us all in relationships and communication. Along with the minister,
many of the deacons visit those persons who are shut-in due to illness
or circumstances beyond their control. Within the broader community
of the parish, the deacons have developed a system of keeping abreast
of the numerous events in persons' lives, knowing that such a system
will keep persons connected to others and engaged in the life and
work of the church.
We believe that this intentional, coordinated
Visitation ministry is a central aspect to always "…being and
becoming a shalom community."
