New to Center Church?
Worship

Welcome!

We worship Sunday mornings at 10:30 in the Historic Meetinghouse, located at 675 Main Street in downtown Hartford. Free, on street parking is available.

Come as you are, come comfortable and know that you are most welcomed!

If you are new to Hartford or a long time resident; whether you live downtown or in the suburbs; whether you are 100% sure of your beliefs or are struggling with questions about religion and moral values in our society; whether you are a seeker or are looking for a church home where you can worship and serve: You are welcome at Center Church!

Everyone can be a part of worship at Center Church, whether you’re here in person or interacting with us from home.

If you are unable to join us in person,  we hope you will join us via Facebook Live, where we are listed as “The First Church of Christ in Hartford.” Some special services are streamed on YouTube as well.  Watch us on YouTube Here!

We worship regularly in person, simultaneously streaming on Facebook Live. Our meetings and events are hybrid, with some held in person and some exclusively online.

Subscribe to our weekly e-News to receive information about and links to the services, news about upcoming events and to stay informed of all the ways we’re trying to “Be the Church,” in Hartford and around the world.

Please feel free to email the office anytime – info@cchartford.org.

Lectures

Throughout the year, Center Church hosts a number of lectures. Endowed by former members of Center Church for the benefit of future generations the Fred and Elizabeth Boyajian Lecture Series, “Lest We Forget,” and the Thomas Hooker Lectureship focus on the intersectionality of faith, civics and human rights.

In March 2026, Dr. Jennifer Barclay will join us for our second lecture of the year on her book, The Mark of Slavery: Disability, Race, and Gender in Antebellum America. Stay tuned for more information!

On October 15th, 2025, Dr. Andrew Gardner delivered an online lecture entitled, “An Ecclesial Crisis: Joel Hawes and Abolition at the First Church of Christ.” Hawes was Center Church’s tenth pastor and served this congregation from 1818 until 1864. Hawes pastored at a time when the church was divided on the “great moral issue” of the time, chattel slavery. Learn how Hawes navigated the competing interests and how he, in his personal life, worked for abolitionist causes. If you missed the lecture, you can watch the video on our YouTube Channel, here.

On September 28, 2025, the Rev. Dr. William Yoo joined us for Freedom Trail Sunday, leading worship and later that day offering a lecture on his recent book (Reckoning with History: Settler Colonialism, Slavery, and the making of American Christianity) and the first of our Boyajian lectures of the year. Sponsored by both Center Church and Hartford International University, the video is available on HIU’s Facebook page, here.
